5 Reviews of the Quasar
By: Agusta Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2001 Rating:
A great tent, plenty of room, four storage pockets and I have a loft to add to the storage. As you can see from one of the pictures I have added there is plenty of room in the ends of the tents for storage and cooking. I found when I first had the tent the cover over the zip at the top allowed water to drip into the inner tent. I mentioned this to Terra Nova and they had the tent back and put a strip of wire in it to prevent this; now fitted as standard. There after sales service is great! Buy one now!

I have just bought a new Quasar and part exchanged my old one - I think this is the ultimate 2 person tent. We had the old one for over 20 years, from the wilds of Scotland to festivals it never let us down. It was a wrench to let it go but Terra Nova are so great and we got 1/3 discount on a new one (they take back well loved ones to re-cycle).
It is so easy to pitch and so comfy.

Amazing tent. Easy to pitch red flysheet. Loads of storage space at either end and very sound midge control system. This tent is very stable in the wind. You can sleep soundly knowing that its going to stay up and its not going to leak. I put a tarp over it in the summer to keep it cool in the early morning sun. I also use an old fashioned space blanket under the tent , this solves the condensation problem Perfect tent

Bought mine in 1992, saved for the whole summer between school and uni, best £330 I ever spent. Truly is the original and best geodesic tent. Highly stable in high winds it's taken the best/worst that Scotland can throw at it and laughed it off.
A roomy 2 man that can squeeze 3 at a push, gear stowage at either end in the porch or has fittings for a gear loft (just makes it a bit low inside.). Takes only a few minutes to erect between 2 people.
Weight wise, nowadays it is on the heavy side but I know what I'd rather be in when it all kicks off - everything else is just a copy.

The Quasar is quite possibly the best two man tent in the world. I had mine between 2002 and 2009 and it pulled me through some seriously awful weather. One night in the Lakes, every other tent was ripped and damaged whilst the TNQ was completely untouched. Very highly recommended.
Only negative is it is a little heavy, but split between two people, no problem

Manufacturer's Description
The definitive 2-man tent for 4 season use The Quasar is designed for mountaineers looking for an extremely strong tent and is at home in the mountains as it is at the poles. Its strength, durability and space make it the perfect choice for longer-term mountaineering trips or expeditions.
► The Quasar is much copied but never bettered. The exceptionally strong geodesic design is well proven having withstood some of the harshest conditions for well over two decades
► The tent is rated for 4 season mountain use and is as much at home wild camping as it is on a campsite
► The inner pitch first design of this tent adds to its stability, makes it quieter than a tunnel tent in windy conditions and creates superb inner tension which prevents sagging and provides the largest usable space possible
► It’s simple and quick to pitch with colour coded poles and continuous pole sleeves
► The free-standing format means this tent is ideal for camping where the ground is less firm, as it doesn't rely on guy lines and pegs to support its main structure
► Two entrances and porches allow sheltered access and plenty of space to store your gear. Each inner door has a full midge-proof mesh and full solid inner door, enabling a multitude of ventilation options depending on weather conditions
► A combination of proven Terra Nova Watershed and Waterbloc fabrics provide excellent durability, UV resistance with superb waterproofing and the flysheet and groundsheet are taped for complete weather protection
► The Quasar is updated for 2017 with the introduction of 30 Denier nylon ripstop Watershed fabric for the flysheet which has reduced the packed weight of the tent by 800g
► Dyneema reflective guylines add more stability in bad conditions. Dyneema guyrope is three times as strong as standard guyrope of the same weight.
